US$600,000 For A Gundam Painting?!?!

Would you pay US$600,000 for a painting of a Gundam? Apparently somebody did at a Christie's auction in Hong Kong. The Gundam painting "RX-78-2 Kabuki-mono 2005 Version" went for HK$4.8 million (approximately US$600,000). The painting of this traditional mixed with modern Gundam was created by Tenmyouya Hisashi, a Japanese artist.

Besides this painting, he also created other works as well. Here are two of them which were sold relatively similar to price (well, almost since their price are also in 5 figures) of the Gundam painting.

Another of Tenmyouya Hisashi's creation which sold at HK$3,127,500 (approximately US$403,000). For more info and description on this painting, click here. [Image taken from Christie's]

Also another of Tenmyouya Hisashi's creation which sold at HK$2,287,500 (approximately US$295,000). For more info and description on this painting, click here. [Image taken from Christie's]
