Marketing

What is marketing? The word 'marketing' is derived from the word 'market'. According to About.com, the definition of market is any place where the sellers of a particular good or service can meet with the buyers of that goods and service where there is a potential for a transaction to take place. The buyers must have something they can offer in exchange for there to be a potential transaction. [I know this is kinda boring but please bear with it a little bit more.]

According to wikipedia, the word 'marketing' is an ongoing process of planning and executing of the marketing mix (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) of products, services or ideas to create exchange between individuals and organizations.
Marketing tends to be seen as a creative industry, which includes advertising, distribution and selling. It is also concerned with anticipating the customers' future needs and wants, which are often discovered through market research. Essentially, marketing is the process of creating or directing an organization to be successful in selling a product or service that people not only desire, but are willing to buy. Therefore good marketing must be able to create a "proposition" or set of benefits for the end customer that delivers value through products or services. All these does not mean much to me because I did not originate from the field of business nor marketing. However, I did learned a little bit regarding business as an elective subject for my engineering course. Therefore, a jargon like 4P's (Marketing Mix: Product, Price, Place & Promotion) will still in my vocabulary and shouldn't be a problem for me. For more business jargons, click here.

The multi-million dollar question is: Wtf!, why is this related to my blog? Well, I'll definitely won't say, "Cause I felt so" because it is not the main purpose. If you have read my previous entry regarding Selling Yourself, well this post is related to it.

In order to sell oneselves, one requires the art of marketing. Marketing is the key to selling oneselves in order to be successful in life. As mentioned before, marketing is vital to an organization because it is a process that will direct or create business opportunity to the respective organization. The same principals goes to people as well.

So to all readers, learn more about marketing through the internet but I do suggest a more reliable source which is the book. Talking bout reading books, I should start borrowing some from Clarence, your residential guerrilla. [Congratulations, your torment ends here. Thank you for reading from the beginning till the end.]

Another great way to learn marketing which is through Dilbert.
